Mother Day Gift Ideas

There’s nothing more fun than hunting for the perfect gift for a loved one. Mother’s day is quickly approaching and boutiques all have a little section of gifts dedicated for this occasion. Trying to find a gift for your mom can be tricky but here’s a few hints:

  1. One-size fits all: unless you don’t know your mother’s size, opt for items without a size or clothing items that don’t require a fitted form like a plush bathroom.
  2. Foodies: go ahead and indulge your mother with some yummy sweets like macarons or cupcakes.
  3. Get fit and happy: fitness trackers are all the rage lately and they come in a variety of colours and blend in perfectly with a bracelet stack.
  4. Think beachy: with all this beautiful spring and summer weather ahead, there’s no better time than now to get her something she can pack with her to the beach like a small accessories pouch or vegan-friendly beach tote.

Summer Dressings and London Fashion

April 29, 2015
c600x401

I’m hoping to make a trip out to Europe this summer with C and possibly G. I’m so excited to see London and to do some major shopping. I absolutely love the London fashion scene and can’t wait to experience it all. I’m happy that The Bay has a Topshop boutique but the prices are a bit outrageous so it’s hard to justify trend piece shopping. Any other recommendations for London shops?

Loving Rainy Days and Mint Green Hunters

April 27, 2015
original

I’ve been lusting over Hunter’s for a while now and each time I’ve tried them on I’ve always been so disappointed. Why you ask? For us petite ladies with shorter calves, the boot shaft will hit and swat at the back of your knees all day long. To much surprise, for those with a foot size smaller than 7, you can actually go with getting a pair of kid’s Hunters! That’s precisely what I did and I saved some coin while doing so.

I’m typically a size 6.5 or 7 so I ordered a size 5 in kids and they fit perfect fine with some wiggle room. I picked up a beautiful pair in tourmaline green but to most, it’s just mint green, turquoise and Tiffany blue. The only difrerence between the adult and children’s boots are the shaft height (shorter for children) and the presence of two reflectors for safety (on the kid’s version). I can’t say that the reflectors bother me, in fact I actually like them so that cars can see me in the rain/fog/dark.

Comfy Canadian Sweatpants

April 26, 2015
c600x463

This weekend I went by Roots with my mom and had fun with their customer appreciation sale (25% off comfy sweats). I picked up another pair of their original slim pocket pants in black and snagged a pair for my brother in dark gray. I was hoping to pick up another pair in a dark grey mix for myself but alas they didn’t have any, weird right? With the discount I couldn’t resist buying a pair of black leggings, they’re a bit sheer if you stretch around but since I’ll be reserving them for lazy days at home it’ll be fine.

Lululemon Pace Setter Skirt – 4 Way Stretch Review

April 26, 2015
LW8210R_0001_1

why we made this

We made this running skirt with four-way stretch fabric and built-in shorts so you can feel confident no matter how large you leap. The shorts have silicone grip on the hem so they don’t roll up mid-stride.

fabric + features

  • Swift Ultra fabric is lightweight, sweat-wicking and has four-way stretch
  • the Light Luxtreme™ waistband won’t dig in
  • secure zipper pocket on back waistband for cards and keys
  • two gel pockets for mid-race snacking
  • back venting adds breathability while pleats give you room to move
  • built-in shorts made of moisture-wicking Light Luxtreme fabric
  • silicone grip at the hem helps keep your liner in place
  • flat seams help stop chafing
  • imported

fit + function

  • designed for: run
  • fabric(s): Swift Ultra, Light Luxtreme
  • front length: 121/4″
  • back length: 131/4″
  • liner: yes – Light Luxtreme shorts with a 31/2″ inseam

I just picked this up on sale in the we made too much for $39! I have the same style skirt in a size 4 tall even though I’m a petite since the skirt is quite short. I’m hoping the size 6 that I ordered will fit a bit looser but still snug enough so they won’t fall when I’m running about. The size 4 in the front starts to look stretched out so hopefully this won’t happen with the extra size up. I’ve always wanted this skirt n black but couldn’t swallow paying full price for this. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that it’s going to fit as expected.

Great for those that…

  • Play tennis and want a flirty skirt since they have a ball pocket on the shorts underneath
  • Want to jump straight from yoga to a coffee date

Bad for those that…

  • Have muscular thighs (the silicon on the under shorts will dig into your leg)
  • Purchase the tall version if you’re conscious about the short length on the regular style

Things to improve on…

  • Larger back pocket for an iPod or phone
  • Less abrasive silicon/plastic on the under shorts
  • Front of the skirt will appear stretched if you buy your usual size (try sizing up)

PRICE: 58CDN
